Hey guys I just bought a 1995 EF Fairmont and im wondering if it's a series 1 or series 2.

I read somewhere that the series 1 had "accel" and "decel" on the cruise control and series 2 had "- set" and "+set". Is this correct? Because the 1995 i bought has the "-set" and "+set".

EFII began production in October 1995. Look inside - is the cigarette lighter (i.e. the bit you pull out) always visible, or is it behind the bit you pull down? If it is behind it is an EF1, if its always exposed its an EF2.

Get your VIN, and go to http://www.myford.com.au/, put it in and it will give you the official factory records for your car, and it will say if its an EF1 or EF2.

It's more than likely it's a Series I thats been fitted with the S2 ashtray - apparently the Series I design of it was so dodgy Ford did a recall and put the new ones in.

Official records for mine say:

Original Registration Date (DD/MM/YYYY) 11/15/1995
Build Date / Month Manufacture (YY/MM) 9511
Body EF II FALCON FUTURA
Engine 4.0 LITRE OHC MP EFI
Transmission 4 SPEED AUTO FLOOR *
Colour DYNAMIC WHITE

So if yours was EF II, it would most likely say 'EF II' like it does mine.

Even easier - just look at the compliance plate & see whether it lists as an EF, or EF II

EFI had a flat passenger side mirror, EFII got an 'Objects in the rear view mirror etc' type mirror, the boot/fuel release buttons are also recessed on EFII's as it was to easy to bump the EF1 buttons, combine that with the ashtray change and it shold be easy to confirm the model.

left hand mirror yes, although Im 98% sure Ford did the swap on EF1 models when they were serviced, could be wrong though.

Revised badging - nup, AFAIK all EF's have the same style. EL is different.

Dual Airbag - Option, not all have it but yes it was brought in in EFII.

Colour Matching Seatbelts? Never seen them before?

Ok, lets mix it up here. I had an EL with locking button on inside of drivers door only. A friend had EL with buttons on both driver and front passenger door.
Was mine a ELII? IF so what else was different. (besides obvious, mine was wagon, his was sedan)

My parents back in March 98 ordered a Saphire EL Futura wagon (knowing series I was current model) and were delivered a Series II Saphire which came with different interior trim material and deleted interior front passenger door lock and key hole in door handle.
