I just want to know the length of the bed rails needed for a 2003 Ford Ranger with a 6 foot bed....

I have a set that I took off of my 2003 Ranger with a 6 foot box. Where do you live, I may be interested in selling. They are brand new.

 

I don't know how you normally do it in the US but here those type of rails (aka rope rails?) are normally fitted on the outside of the bed - so 6' ones would fit. Otherwise you could either use 5' ones or get 6' and cut a bit off each end depending on where the mounting legs are placed.

 

I saw chrome bed rails on a new Ranger at the Ford dealer near my office. I suppose you could get them from a dealer or look for a slightly used set from someone who put on a tonneau.

Who would have guessed that getting some bed rails would be this difficult.

I have decided to forget the whole thing and get my father something else.

 

In case you come back to this and decide to get the rails for your Dad at a later date, my suggestion is to swing by a dealership and put the question to a parts or sales guy, or, go by a truck accessories store and check there. You won't necessarily find the lowest price, but you can get a firm fix on what you need, and have a baseline for what type of $$ you are looking at.

If these are the bar type that sit ontop of the bed then it would be a 6' rail you want.
