I have a 1995 f 250 with the 460 in it. When i bought it i drove it about a month or two with i guess little to no transmission fluid in it. The other week after putting transmission fluid it ran better. All of a sudden at a stop sign the truck would just rev up in drive. I backed it down to flat area and if i revved it up real high it would kick in and go as long as i kept the rpms up. I just put some Lucas transmission fix in it i dont think it did anything. Im wondering if it might be the torque converter. Im trying to figure it out before buying a whole new tranny. Any help appreciated thank you and god bless.

I mean when you put it in 1st gear instead of drive. If no gears work either the pump is dead or the clutches are gone.

You should have a pressure port on the drivers side (?) of the trans where you can put a pressure gauge on it to see if theres any pressure.

Do you know whether you have the e4od? If so this is where it is.

Temp gauge - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

Dont worry that it says temp gauge that same port is used to test pressure. Really all youre doing is looking for any pressure at all. If its like the aod it should have about 5 psi at idle.

On a side note, if it does have an e4od then you should be able to pull transmission codes.
