i cant see why you NEED a floor mounted handbreak. The EA passed ADR's when made, you should be fine. ABout the tyre, get it fixed

 

The only reason I can think of for requiring a floor mounted handbrake is so that the tester can activate it in an emergency or if you lost control of the car.

You definitely want to make sure the car is in good (rwc) condition for the test, too.

 

when i did mine they tested every last bit of the car - i was asked to hold the brakes on while they checked the taillights etc etc.

 

they whinged about the brake when my mate took his test in my EA, but they still let him do it... which was lucky, because it took him 5 goes...

 

thanks for ur input guys, some1 suggested i just hire a small car for a day.

 

probably not going to work... in QLD at least, the registered owner of the car must sign part of the licence application form saying it's ok to use the car... doubt Hertz would be very keen for that...

there are driving school that will give you a car for the test if you take a lesson with them beforehand... might be an idea to check that out
